Just defined by a size, nanoscience became in few years a whole research topic since it allows to unify two, up to date, distinguished approaches in understanding the subject; miniaturization (top-down) and assembly (bottom-up). It is naturally located at the convergence of too often dissociated disciplines: chemistry, physics, biology and engineering. This unique positioning is the source of fundamental challenges, technological innovations, and also ethical and regulatory questions.
The Nanoscience subdivision of the Division of Physical Chemistry aims to provide a platform for the exchange in this multidisciplinary field. Its first ambition is to facilitate contact between researchers from different scientific disciplines, to disseminate relevant news, and to participate and to organize events within the field nanoscience.
