The Alsace office of the SCF has as the main objective to bring together actors involved in all fields of chemistry, students, academic and industrial scientists from Haut-Rhin and Bas-Rhin, to give high visibility and vitality to the Alsatian chemistry. Activities of the regional office are currently focused on the organization and support of congresses, meetings, forums, and conferences allowing bringing together young and senior chemists, and thus facilitatingscientific discussions by sharing their knowledge and research experience. In this context, the recurring activities are the following :

  • organization by rotation together with the other three Grand-Est regional SCF offices, BourgogneFranche-Comté, ChampagneArdenne and Lorraine, of the “SCF Grand-Est” congress, which brings together chemists coming from these areas ; notably, this congress gives the opportunity to the PhD students to present their research thesis results.
  • The co-organization of the Forum BioChem which aims to bring together people from the academic and the industrialsectors working at the interface between chemistry and biology, with a partnership with the Biological Society of Strasbourg and local student associations
  • The co-organization together with “l’Amicale Chimie Mulhouse” of plenary lectures allowing to discover various aspects of the chemistry in private ventures and to create networks between the academic world and industry.
  • Other initiatives are carried out to promote the chemistry to the general public and in particular to attract young people towards this discipline.
The section also includes a club that is part of the RJ-SCF bringing together members aged up to 35.
Therefore our section supports the “Olympiades Nationales de la Chimie” byawarding of prices (books) to the local competition winners. Finally, the Alsatian SCF section is obviously in close relationship with the head SCF office in Paris and the thematic divisions of the SCF by getting involved in their various activities toward common objectives.
